Tips for employed jobseekers When individuals accept a job offer, most of them realize they will not hold this position forever - especially early on in their career. However, whether workers are fresh out of college or have been with a company for over a decade, they may feel the urge to find a new line of work, or, at the very least, a new employer. After taking a career test and scoring a few interviews, jobseekers may think they are on their way to an exciting new life, until word gets out around the office that they are looking for work elsewhere.

The truth is, it is not always possible to balance the current day job with the hunt for new opportunities. However, there are certain things employees can say if their boss finds out that they have an interest in moving on. These tips are especially important if individuals wish to keep working until they are 100 percent positive they have a new job to go to.

Blame the economy
It is no secret that the national economy has seen better days. While this is anything but good news, employed jobseekers can use it to their advantage if they get caught looking for new employment opportunities. Roy Cohen, author of "The Wall Street Professional's Survival Guide," told CBS MoneyWatch that individuals should explain that an excellent opportunity presented itself and, with economic conditions in the state they are, it was prudent to agree to a meeting. At the same time, they can make a point that just because they took a meeting does not mean they are not satisfied with their current position.

Simply deny
When caught, lying is always a dangerous course of action, especially in a work environment. Cohen told the news source if fibbing is how workers wish to proceed, they must be convincing and improve their job efforts right away to prove their worth.

"I would ask how a nasty rumor like that could have started and why," Cohen said. "Your goal is to buy time if your situation is bad."

Arrange interviews at the right times
Employed jobseekers may be able to avoid being caught if they are not taking every other day off to go on job interviews. These individuals will have an easier time slipping out of the office for an hour or two if their boss or colleagues are not at work, according to CareerBuilder. As a result, it is in their best interest to schedule meetings for days when they know they will not be monitored.
