The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently reported that there were 945,000 individuals in December 2011 who had put their job search on hold due to the fact that they felt there were no positions available for them.

Whether or not this is true, there are always ways for people to improve or adjust their job search strategies. One of the best ways to find out what works and what does not is to listen to recruiters, coaches and other experts when they provide advice.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently spoke to a few experts to find out what types of tips they have for today’s jobseeker. For instance, Martha Carnahan, a certified business and life coach, suggested that people figure out what type of work environment is best for them, as well as which ones will make them happiest. One way of accomplishing this task is by taking a career test.

Similarly, Elena Bajic, founder and chief executive officer of the career resource and job recruiting website Ivy Exec, told the news source that it is important for individuals to know what their skills and abilities are so they know what they have to offer an employer.

Carnahan also emphasized the importance of finding out what type of information comes up during a Google search of a jobseeker’s name.
