Job seekers can take their employment search mobile
TUESDAY, AUGUST 06, 2013 10:51 AM

Job seekers can take their employment search mobile As of May 2013, a total of 56 percent of American adults own a smartphone, while 91 percent of American adults have a cellphone, according to data from the Pew Internet & American Life Project. Based on this information, it is safe to assume many Americans - including job seekers - have an interest in mobile technology.

Individuals who are always on the move should know that it is possible for them to find work and even apply to jobs without slowing down. Once job seekers complete an aptitude test and have a better sense of what type of profession is right for them, they can download a few of the following mobile job search apps:

Glassdoor
Individuals who have visited Glassdoor to learn about a potential employer should know that they can take advantage of all this website has to offer in mobile form. According to the Glassdoor app's iTunes page, this program allows users to quickly search for jobs, read company reviews and look up salary information.

"We're all busy and on the go," Scott Dobroski, community expert at Glassdoor, told Fox Business. "If you're an aggressive job hunter, [apps] let you know of the latest job listings at the companies you want to work at in real time so you can get your resume in ASAP."

CareerBuilder
Not only does CareerBuilder's mobile app allow job seekers to search for positions in the palm of their hand, but apply for them as well. In fact, the process is so easy, according to CareerBuilder, that sending an application can be accomplished in two taps of a phone screen. Special features on the app also help users save time on the go.

"We provide a 'mobile' icon next to job postings so it's easy to identify mobile-apply enabled jobs," Hope Gurion, CareerBuilder's chief product officer, told Fox Business.

LinkedIn
While Facebook and Twitter can be helpful during the job search, LinkedIn has a reputation for being the go-to social media website for those who are looking for work. Now, the website aims to be the go-to mobile app for job seekers as well.

Whether individuals are on a smartphone or a tablet, they can apply for jobs using LinkedIn's app. Rather than filling out any forms or submitting a resume, the app will send potential employers a copy of a job seeker's profile on the social media website, according to PC Magazine. As a result, LinkedIn users will want to make sure their profile is completely filled out and updated before they use this app.
