Job candidates need to watch what they say during interviews

Job candidates need to watch what they say during interviews After taking a career test and finding the ideal position, job candidates may spend a lot of time thinking about what they will wear to an interview or how they will behave over the course of the meeting. However, these individuals should consider paying more attention to what they say and how they say it, as this can affect how they are perceived during an interview.

CBS MoneyWatch recently highlighted several ways in which people communicate their beliefs, attitudes and weaknesses during an interview, whether or not they are aware of it.

For instance, applicants might talk about how they lost their last job, despite how hard they worked, the news source reported. The problem with this type of statement is that an interviewer may view the candidate as whiny or a complainer. Additionally, the company’s decision to downsize may have had nothing to do with how hard this particular individual worked.

According to the news outlet, it is also important for applicants to not look as though they are blaming others for the multiple jobs they have held. For example, an individual should not cite ineffective leadership as the reason for jumping from job to job.

Overall, during job interviews, CareerBuilder states that when answering questions, candidates should leave negative information out of their responses and keep things positive.
