While every member of the nation’s upper class has his or her own unique personality, the results of seven recent University of California, Berkeley studies reveal that these individuals are more likely to behave in an unethical manner, according to the school’s website.

To arrive at these findings, University researchers worked with more than 1,000 individuals who were from lower, middle and upper class backgrounds. These study participants reported their social class and answered survey questions designed to identify their attitudes toward behavior and greed.

In addition, study participants were asked to participate in tasks that would reveal how their actual behavior relates to their views. For instance, one study looked at the decisions people make behind the wheel of a car.

"The increased unethical tendencies of upper-class individuals are driven, in part, by their more favorable attitudes toward greed," said Paul Piff, lead author of the paper on the study, which appears in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Despite these findings, wealthier individuals have also been found to have more positive personality traits. For instance, Oprah.com states that those who achieve financial success are often optimistic, passionate and resilient.
