In an effort to make online banking safer, McAfee, an internet security company, recently described the three main personality types that are associated with customers who use this web-based service, the San Francisco Business Times reports.

The first personality group is between the ages of 18 and 24, and are what McAfee refers to as "competent, but a little careless," states the news source. This demographic knows how to use technology, but can be overconfident in their abilities at times, putting themselves at risk for fraud.

McAfee labels people between 25 and 45 years of age as "confident but casual." While this group uses online banking the most, their computers tend to have less defenses against viruses.

The third group, which includes people over the age of 45, is considered to be "conservative and cautious," according to the news source. As these individuals tend to think carefully about their online actions, they are less likely to get involved with web-based scams.
