People who have noticed they are putting on a little extra weight may want to take a personality test. That is because certain characteristics might make some individuals more likely to pack on pounds than others, ABC News reported.

On a recent episode of ABC’s Good Morning America, therapist Tiffanie Davis Henry spoke about how the connection between personality, emotions and cravings has the potential to lead to weight gain. Henry highlighted a few personality types and why they are at risk.

For instance, "The Instant Gratifier" is someone who is incapable of saying no, according to the news source. This individual eats, and then later regrets his or her actions. Henry said that Instant Gratifiers should look at what they are eating and ask themselves why they want this particular food. The key for these individuals is to soothe their moods.

"The Negative Nelly" lets personality traits control his or her eating habits. Harris said that these individuals are so down on themselves that they punish themselves with food. They may be able to turn things around if they realize eating just makes them feel worse.

Past studies have also linked people’s personality traits to their weight. A Department of Health and Human Services study that appeared in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology found that those with type A personalities were more likely to have a higher body mass index.
