Some parents ensure that their gifted child is nurtured

Parents who believe their children are gifted often enroll them in special programs or curricula to ensure that they're receiving the challenge they need in order to succeed.

Some parents believe in their child's potential so much that they heavily encourage the power of learning, according to CNN. The news provider spoke to gifted children about how their families encouraged them to strive to their full potential.

"When they explore the environment, if they're rewarded for that, that encourages that behavior and they're more likely to do that in the future," Shelley Carson, a psychologist at Harvard University and author of Your Creative Brain: Seven Steps to Maximize Imagination, Productivity, and Innovation in Your Life, told the news provider.

According to the National Association of Gifted Children, there is an estimated 3 million children who are considered gifted. Some experts believe that children who are considered gifted are overlooked at times because there is a wide variety of learning styles.
