The late Albert Einstein is said to have had an IQ around 160, according to the Daily Mail. The same is true of theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking. Heidi Hankins, a 4-year-old who was recently accepted to Mensa, is not quite at these scientists’ level, but she comes close.

Although she has yet to start school, Hankins has an IQ of 159, the news source reported. At 18-months, Hankins taught herself how to read using a computer. When she was just 2, the gifted child was already reading books designed for 7-year-olds. Among the skills Hankins has picked up since include the ability to add, subtract and write sentences.

Hankins’ parents set out to see if their daughter was eligible to join Mensa after her nursery struggled to find activities that could challenge her.

According to Mensa International, individuals of all ages and backgrounds are invited to join the society if their IQ is in the top 2 percent of the population. It is not uncommon for children Hankins’ age to qualify for Mensa, as its members range in age from 2 to more than 100.

When children show exceptional signs of intelligence early on, their parents may want to have them take an IQ test for kids to see if they should be considered gifted.
