Clayton Goertemiller has an IQ in the 99.9th percentile, which often leaves him bored in classroom settings as he's unable to be challenged, according to the Dayton Daily News.

Goertemiller is now a member of the United States primary team, which consists of gifted children ages 8 to 13, to compete in global challenges. Most recently, the team placed ninth out of 33 groups at the world Federation of National Mathematics Competition, which took place in Beijing, China, the source reports.

For parents of gifted children, it may be a beneficial option to start home schooling, as it will allow the student to learn material more up to their speed. Additionally, there are a number of groups, such as the one Goertemiller belongs to, where gifted children can work together in competitions.
