Child genius profile: Alexis Martin

Alexis Martin has only been around for three years, but she has put that time to good use. The child prodigy from Phoenix stunned scientists, researchers and especially her parents when they discovered she had an astronomically high level of intelligence. According to the parents, Alexis has an IQ of 160, placing her in the top 2 percent of incredibly intelligent people in the world. Her IQ test results put her in the esteemed company of mental giants such as Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking and Bill Gates.

To put Alexis' score in perspective, the average IQ of an American adult is about 100. She started reading on her own by the age of 2 and taught herself Spanish through a language immersion app on her parents' iPad. After Alexis displayed a voracious appetite for reading and learning new information, her parents decided to bring her to the experts to determine the extent of her intelligence. She scored so well the researchers couldn't arrive at an exact figure.

Her fame quickly spread, and soon representatives of Mensa, the nonprofit organization that recognizes highly intelligent individuals, admitted Alexis into their club. She now has bragging rights, along with only 3,500 young people, for being one of the smartest kids in the world.
