California teachers and parents to gather at gifted education conference

When parents notice that their children appear to be more advanced than their peers, they may want to have them take an IQ test for kids to see if they should be considered gifted. The early identification of special talents is essential, as the National Association for Gifted Children states that various factors throughout life can either enhance or inhibit the development of their special talents.

If parents learn that they have a gifted child under their roof, they may not know how to help them prosper on both academic and personal levels. Families that have these concerns should see if there are any events coming up in their local area that can help them learn more.

The Las Virgenes Unified School District's third-annual Gifted Conference is just one upcoming event. On January 19, California's Yerba Buena Elementary School will host this gathering of teachers and parents, the Agoura Hills Acorn reported.

During the conference, gifted education experts will cover topics relevant to the parents and teachers of advanced learners. Addressing the social and emotional needs of gifted children and college planning strategies are among the subjects sessions will focus on.
