British schoolboy joins Mensa
TUESDAY, AUGUST 26, 2014 10:14 AM

A genius school boy counted the encyclopedia among his favorite books. Ramarni Wilfred is, by all observations, a regular 11-year-old schoolboy. According to Mirror Online, his mother Anthea Wilfred says Ramarni likes to read comics, watch the Disney Channel and play with his dog. However, there's more to this boy than the typical childhood he leads - he has an IQ score of 162.

With the greats
Ramarni took an IQ test, and his score revealed that his intelligence is greater than that of Albert Einstein, Bill Gates and Stephen Hawking (all of whom had or have an IQ of 160). As a result of Ramarni's spectacular intelligence, Mensa, a social organization for people with genius-level IQs, invited the young boy to join its ranks. Ramarni accepted the offer, which is given to people whose IQ falls at or above the 98th percentile, regardless of age, race, sex, country of origin, etc.

"Mensa allows him to talk and be with other people as clever as he is for the things that go over my head," Wilfred told the source.

A humble attitude
Ramarni's school suggested moving him up a grade level in order to challenge him, but Wilfred turned them down. She noted that she wants her son to grow up with other kids his age. Because he has access to Mensa, he'll still be able to test his mind and have intellectual conversations with bright people.

For his part, Ramarni wants to eventually attend Oxford University and become an astrophysicist. While he has high hopes for his future, Ramarni knows he'll have to work hard to achieve his goals.

"I can't begin to compare myself to these great men whose hard work clearly proves that they are true geniuses," Ramarni told the source. "This is a great opportunity and I think it can open a lot of doors for me. But I also believe that having a high IQ isn't that important unless you do something really special with it."

Discovering his smarts
Ramarni, who is from Essex, England, first showed signs of his brilliance at a young age. According to the Rumford Reporter, by the time he was 18 months old, Ramarni discussed the news and said his favorite book was the encyclopedia. When he was 3 years old, Ramarni could read and write. During grade school, Ramarni was in gifted programs and wrote a high-scoring essay that earned him an invitation to a graduation ceremony at Oxford University.

"Anyone who registers an IQ score which places them in the top 2 percent of the population has done remarkably well," John Stevenage, Mensa's chief executive, told the Mirror Online. "The score Ramarni achieved therefore is very good and shows he has great potential."
