15-year-old college student eyes medical school

When parents provide their children with a chance to take an IQ test for kids, they may be able to learn whether or not their little ones should be considered gifted. With this knowledge, parents may be able to set their children down a path that will most benefit them on both a personal and academic level.

At 15 years old, Utah resident Jessica Brooke is one teenager who started her academic career on a strong note, as there are only a few semesters standing between her and a college degree, KSTU-Fox 13 reported. When Brooke was just 12-years-old, she enrolled in college, and currently attends Weber State University.

Brooke already has two associate''s degrees under her belt and is looking to apply to medical school in about a year. However, despite all her accomplishments, young Brooke does not feel out of place on campus.

"They don''t treat me any differently when they find out or anything, which I love," Brooke told the news source of her collegiate experience. "You know, I don''t want to be babied, or think that I can''t do anything."

While the average medical school student tends to be a lot older than Brooke, she definitely is not the first teenager to apply to medical school at an early age. For example, 21-year-old Sho Yano earned a medical degree from the University of Chicago just last year, the Chicago Tribune reported.
