While there are those who believe charisma is simply a characteristic people either do or do not possess, researchers from Switzerland’s University of Lausanne found the opposite to be true, according to CBS MoneyWatch. In fact, the results revealed that several of the traits people feel are inborn are actually teachable.Cynthia Burnham, author and charisma coach, agrees that this personality trait can be taught."Charisma is a learnable skill, not simply a gift for the favored few, and is a way of focusing your behavior and attitude for greatest impact and connection," Burnham said. "Charisma is also what separates the merely competent from the supremely capable."Burnham has developed a step-by-step system that people can use to transform themselves into more charismatic individuals. For instance, taking the simplest steps, such as nodding decisively or not at all, can make someone look more powerful in other people’s eyes. In addition, those who lower their voices can come off as sounding stronger, more intelligent and believable. If individuals feel they lack charisma, but are not sure, taking a personality test may be able to provide them with the answers they seek.
