These characteristics were among those that were recently listed by The South Jersey Sun to help identify youths who are more talented than others their age.Other characteristics that gifted children may possess are excellent memory, strong reasoning skills, flexible thinking, long attention span and vivid imagination, according to the news source.Ethan Brown, a seventh grader at Connecticut's Bethel Middle School, is one adolescent who was recently recognized for his academic talents, the News Times reported. Brown was honored with the 2011 Nicholas Green Distinguished Student Award by the National Association of Gifted Children.According to the news outlet, this award is given to students in the third through sixth grade in recognition of distinguished achievement in academics, leadership or the arts. Brown was selected because of his passion for mathematics and his commitment to learning more about the subject. Furthermore, he gives assemblies to elementary school pupils to promote a higher level of interest in mathematics.Parents of children like Brown, who show a strong passion for a particular subject at a young age, may want to have them take a kids IQ test to see what talents they possess.
