Men who know what their IQ is during young adulthood may be able to prevent weight gain and even heart disease later in life, according to U.S. News & World Report. In a study that was conducted by Jerzy Leppert, a professor at Sweden's Uppsala University, it was found that men with low IQs may be more likely than those with high IQs to gain weight as they get older, the news source reported. These results were based on the IQ test scores and waist-to-hip ratios of approximately 5,400 men.According to the news outlet, males who had the lowest IQs as young adults also had the highest waist-to-hip ratios when they were 40 years of age. At the same time, those who had higher scores were also considered to be in better shape at age 40.This is not the first study to find a connection between IQ and weight gain. In fact, past research has shown that as one's body mass index rises, there is a reduction in their cognitive abilities, The Telegraph reported. Those who are concerned about their health and what the future may hold for them may want to consider taking an IQ test.
