While the amount of education individuals receive can play a role in their level of intelligence, so too does their diet.
For example, the Hindustan Times recently reported that what students eat for lunch in school can have an effect on their intelligence. In a study of one million pupils, researchers found that those who ate foods that did not contain any artificial flavors, preservatives and colors had IQ test scores that were 14 percent higher than those of individuals who consumed foods with the additives.
The news source highlighted several other dietary necessities that can promote a healthy brain, such as specific fats and oils that can be found in nuts and seeds. These foods promote brain development by providing essential nutrients, including minerals, folic acid and B vitamins.
In addition, antioxidants, which are found in organic fruits and vegetables, and the proteins that lean fish possess are vital to a healthy mind, the news outlet stated.
According to Natural News, the omega-3 fatty acid known as docosahexaenoic acid can also promote cerebral health as it makes cell membranes more fluid, which, in turn, enhances communication between brain cells. Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in supplements and various types of fish, including salmon.
