Individuals who are looking to make a career choice may find that taking an aptitude test may help them in their decision by uncovering their strengths. In addition to this practice, a new study is suggesting that brain scans could also be helpful in career guidance.According to a study published in BMC Research Notes, brain scans may be able to determine the way a person thinks, which could ultimately help the individual determine what career may be right for them.Researchers used MRI scans to determine the different variables of gray matter, which included general intelligence, speed of reasoning, memory, spatial and numerical reasoning. The study examined where the 40 test subjects varied in terms of different gray matter, leading them to make assumptions of their cognitive capabilities."A person's pattern of cognitive strengths and weaknesses is related to their brain structure, so there is a possibility that brain scans could provide unique information that would be helpful for vocational choice," said researcher Richard Haier.
