Gifted child to change schools due to autism

Children with autism spectrum disorders are known to face behavioral, communication and social challenges. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, avoiding eye contact, delayed language skills and a need to follow specific routines are all signs of ASDs. However, just because children are autistic does not mean they cannot also be gifted.

At 8 years old, Christian Farrington of England has an IQ of 168, The Daily Mail reported. He also happens to have autism. Despite the fact that Christian is at the top of his class, he is being asked to change schools due to the costs associated with providing him with teaching assistants. Christian's mother, Gabrielle Pakpourtabrizi, is not pleased with the decision.

"Taking him out of the school he loves and putting him in a special needs school will pull the carpet from underneath him and completely ruin him," Pakpourtabrizi told the news source. "He has surpassed everyone's expectations and no child deserves to be taken away from a school that is working for [him or her]."

To ensure children attend the right schools for them, parents should see if their kids are gifted like Christian. An IQ test for kids may be able to provide them with the answers they desire.
