Michael Litchfield, author of the book In-laws, Outlaws and Granny Flats, recently told the Sun Journal that more extended families will share homes in years to come. This trend became very popular during the economic recession, but the professional believes there is no end in sight. While some people rent secondary living spaces to family members, others use these areas to rent out to others in order to make extra money. This can often be a difficult living situation to get used to, so Litchfield offers various suggestions in his book. Among these tips, he says that people who are planning to rent part of their living space must consider various social and psychological issues. Some people, he said, may be too uncomfortable renting a unit to a stranger, even if they feel they need to financially. In order to see if someone is right for renting, Litchfield said he recommends they take a personality test, which can show individuals if sharing their living spaces suits their temperament.According to the book IQ and Personality Tests, these exams can show prospective landlords what their thought, feeling and behavioral patterns are like and how they are apt to act under certain circumstances.
