Deciphering one's personality can sometimes be a difficult task. Individuals can take personality tests in order to determine which qualities really represent them. However, while these exams may be useful, there are also unique ways to determine what an activity really says about someone. According to the Telegraph, researchers from the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland recently found that dance could be a way to determine one's personality. Researchers gave participants personality tests and then separated them into five different groups. Scientists then observed these individuals as they danced to different kinds of music. The study found that extroverts moved their bodies the most while on the dance floor, typically with exaggerated movements. Neurotics moved in sharp, jerky movements with their hands and feet, agreeable personalities had smoother dancing techniques, conscientious people moved their hands over larger distances and open-minded people had rhythmic motions. "Music is known to evoke strong emotions in people and emotions can be expressed through bodily movement," lead researcher Dr. Geoff Luck told Care2. "People use body motions as reliable indicators of others' personality types, and even the movements of robots have been shown to elicit attributes of 'personality' by observers."
