Indicators about how children will perform in school have been studied countless amounts of times, as researchers are intrigued at what groups of pupils may need a separate learning path in order to succeed.Developing language skills was found to be more crucial to boys than girls in terms of building self control and ultimately succeeding in academia, according to researchers from Michigan State University.Researchers noted that more of an emphasis needs to be placed on males to use their words, rather than act out with irrational behavior, as this may lead to problems in school down the line.As part of the study, the researchers observed children as they aged from 1 to 3-years-old. It was determined that helping children regulate their vocabulary allowed them to control their emotions and behavior better."It shouldn't be chalked off as boys being boys," said Claire Vallotton, MSU assistant professor of child development. "They need extra attention from child-care providers and teachers to help them build language skills and to use those skills to regulate their emotions and behavior."
