The National Association for Gifted Children states that parents and other adults play a role in crafting the framework for gifted children's social and emotional health. As a result, it is important to identify an individual's gifts at a young age, as this is a time when they are constantly learning and growing.Once parents have identified gifted traits in their children, they may want to consider placing them in special programs at their schools, or even in institutions that are designed specifically for gifted children. Fortunately, opportunities of this nature exist around the country. The Rockford Public Schools in Illinois recently announced that they will hold three upcoming information sessions for families with an interest in learning more about Rockford's gifted program. The first open house is set for November 8, with two more to follow on November 10 and January 10.Educators who teach in the district's gifted program understand the social, emotional and academic needs that these students possess. These instructors are also trained to help their pupils enhance their talents through creativity and exploration.Parents who feel their children may be more gifted than others their age may want to have them take a kids IQ test.
