Some individuals have an idea of the careers they want to pursue at an early age, while others need a career test in order to determine where their strengths lie.A study from Vanderbilt University reveals that a career path could be predicted for gifted children when they're 13 years old. In order to determine this, researchers examined more than 2,400 adults who were ranked in the top 1 percent of achievement 25 years earlier, when they were 13 years old.The study found that those who showed greater accomplishments in math and science went on to get into technology and engineering careers. Additionally, those who exceed in creative and verbal skills went on to the humanities field. With these findings, researchers are suggesting that a greater focus could be put toward gifted children in order to prepare them for their potential futures."Our research finds that differences in creative potential among highly gifted youth can be identified at age 13, offering opportunities for educators and policymakers to develop programs to cultivate these individuals based on their unique strengths and abilities," said David Lubinski, the study's co-author.
