Gifted children often do not feel challenged by their curriculum, as they are ahead of the curve of their peers. As a result of this, these special students could either get bored or simply sail through class without giving it much thought.A school system in Charleston County, South Carolina, is implementing a new curriculum that would help identify gifted first and second grade students, according to WCSC TV. The base of the curriculum is to allow students to learn from the interaction with their peers."What we find more is just that the increase in thinking ability instead of memorization or direct teacher instruction, that this curriculum really allows the teacher to step back and be a facilitator, and really allow students to use inquiry is allowing them to discover concepts," Karen Reed, Charleston County's talent and gifted interventionist, told the news provider.One way to determine if a child is gifted is through a kid IQ test, which measures the student's overall intelligence against peers in the same age group.
