For some gifted children, solving complex math programs seems like second nature. Other talented youths can pick up a guitar and quickly master the instrument. Then, there are those who look at a blank canvas and see a world of opportunities. Autumn de Forest is one of these gifted children. From August 3-5, New Jersey’s Ocean Galleries will host "Child Prodigy: A diverse collection of artwork by Autumn de Forest." This exhibition will be dedicated to the complex works of this talented 10-year-old painter. Having her very own exhibition is far from Autumn’s only achievement, as she and her artwork have also been featured on NBC, FOX, The Discovery Channel and several other networks. Autumn began to paint at 5 years of age in an effort to help the world. Now, creating is just as essential as breathing. "She is so poised, incredibly smart and genuinely obsessed with painting," said Kim Miller, Oceans’ co-owner. "Yet, she recognizes that there is so much more to her art - it is a way to communicate and connect to people. And most importantly, she realizes that she has a gift and was meant to share her art and her message with the world." If parents notice their children are drawing more than just stick figures at a young age, they may want to have them complete an IQ test for kids to see if they should be considered gifted.
