Students scoring low in science are causing some employers to look elsewhere
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 08, 2010 16:52 PM

Analysts are constantly monitoring how well students are performing in school in order to get an idea of how they may handle certain careers. Many observers check standardized test scores in order to determine where students' strengths are.

A growing trend in the U.S. is that student scores in science are dropping, which is worrying some American businesses about employee prospects, according to the Business Insider. Because achievement scores in science have dropped significantly, employers are beginning to look at job candidates overseas.

The news provider reports that it may fall on teachers to help portray science as a fascinating topic so that they're engaged in what they're learning. If students are interested in their topics of study, they may be more inclined to pick up the subject.

Most standardized tests feature sections on science, which can be one way to determine how well a student is grasping the material. This could point out to teachers if there is a flaw in the curriculum that is causing such low scores.
