Many Maryland residents are dealing with the same less-than-desirable economic conditions as the rest of the country. However, jobseekers in the state can benefit from an initiative known as Southern Maryland JobSource, SoMdNews reported.
This program is made possible through partnerships with local workforce development agencies, such as the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland and the state's Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, to provide jobseekers with employment and training services, according to the initiative's website.
Among the professional assistance the Southern Maryland JobSource offers individuals in Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's Counties are employment planning, help locating work and career test services, the news source stated. In fiscal 2010, more than 42,800 people took advantage of the help offered by the organization, with more than 11,500 of these individuals finding jobs because of the assistance.
When individuals visit a Southern Maryland JobSource office, they can fax or copy their resumes, free of charge, participate in interview seminars or meet with a case worker, the news outlet reported.
"We have a diverse population of individuals and skill levels looking for work, from former administrators to college grads," Belinda Denton, JobSource business services representative, told the news source.
