In today’s ultra competitive job market, many individuals may feel as though they are walking on pins and needles from the time they apply for a position until they hear a reply. After taking a career test, some people may feel as though they are a perfect fit for a job and want to contact their potential employer and show them why. Others feel the same way, but would prefer not to rock the boat and hurt their chances. If jobseekers are tired of waiting for a response, there are things they can do - they just need to be careful how they go about doing them. For instance, once a resume has been posted on a corporate website, it is not wise to repost it multiple times, CBS MoneyWatch reported. This is a good way to be considered spam, but not helpful in changing recruiters’ minds. Something applicants may want to try is following up with a human resources professional a few days after applying. According to CareerBuilder, it is good for jobseekers to be determined, but they must not become too pushy. In fact, following up with a company after submitting a resume or sitting for an interview can be a double-edged sword in the eyes of Rod Hughes, Oxford Communications’ director of communications. "A tactful follow up can place you top of mind with the hiring manager, while incessant calling or emailing can push your resume right off the table," said Hughes, as quoted by the website.
