A resume filled with keywords may lead to a job offer
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2011 18:41 PM

After jobseekers take a career test to identify the type of profession that best matches their skill set, their next step may be to create the perfect resume. What these individuals might not know is that this document is sometimes never read by a human being, CBS MoneyWatch reported.

This is due to the fact that many companies are now using software that scans resumes so that only the most interesting candidates are considered for a position, according to the news source. If a resume is flagged by the software, it might mean the jobseeker who put it together has the right experience or skills for the position they are applying for.

If jobseekers wish to increase their chances of having their resume read by an actual person, the news outlet suggested they include keywords in this document.

According to CareerBuilder, this software scans resumes for keywords that relate to the types of skills, training and education applicants have. Some of the most popular keywords are internet, new media, team-building, leadership, MBA and project management.
